November 18-19: Music and Civil Society
Several initiatives around the world have gained prominence in recent years for the impact they are having on historically challenged communities, and for the quality of music making they are producing. This event, part of a 3-day symposium co-sponsored by CMW and Brown University’s Cogut Center for the Humanities, examines the impact of music on civil society. Through a series of dialogues and musical presentations, musicians, teachers, students, and academics from Providence, Berlin, Venezuela, and the Middle East will explore a rich set of questions to build further understanding and share best practices.
This activity is supported by funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Register here.
